Perfect Spring Evening

Finally, we had some spring weather Monday night.  Lately, it's either been chilly or quite warm for this time of year.  Not Monday night, so we took advantage of the weather.  We headed outside around our campfire ring and enjoyed ourselves.  We roasted hot dogs ("got gods" by Randy), s'mores, and just enjoyed each other.  It was so nice to relax and not worry about how clean (or more like how dirty) my house is, or what time it was, or what to watch on tv.  We just enjoyed nature.

The kids loved it when I spread out the blanket.  They rolled around on it, laid on it, and snuggled on it.  Later that evening I was soooo happy I brought it out b/c it did get quite chilly.  Ruthie and I snuggled on the trampoline singing songs while Daddy and Randy tended to the fire.

The kids weren't too fond of the smores, which I find odd.  They would rather eat the ingredients separate.  Randy also discovered a new sport- marshmallow flinging.  He loved putting them on the stick and flinging them.  Silly boy!

I couldn't resist adding in a few more photos of the kids.

Free Family Night!

Need something free for family night that provideds tons of fun!?  Try this!  The other night we promised Ruthie a fort in the living room with all of us sleeping in there for the night.  She did NOT forget! So, as soon as we were finished with dinner, we made our fort!  We went the easy, lazy, comfortable way out for our beds- we just drug our mattresses into the living room!  Randall strung some string across the living room and we draped sheets over them and pinned them to the string.  Easy right?!  We have the instant movie access through the WII and Netflix- great buy if you ask me.  Rocky road ice cream adds some sweetness to the night.  Add some tackling (and crying) and snuggling and you have the perfect night.  Hereare some photos to enjoy!  (Some are really noisy and it's b/c I had my ISO ALL the way up b/c I didn't think I had any batteries for my speedlight...I finally got frustrated, and looked for batteries and found some.  As you can tell, the photos turned out a bit better after that.)

Late....

Sorry this post is late. Last week, I *thought* I uploaded my photos to my flash drive, but I didn't. So, here are some photos from our last family night. As I mentioned, we built a fire ring out in our pasture (that will soon be our yard! WOO HOO! We are asking a friend to brushhog it for us, and I am beyond excited!) and roasted hot dogs and made smores. It was tons of fun. The kids really enjoyed themselves! Looking forward to doing it again soon. I think family night for this week will be cancelled. :( Randall is working overtime on Friday, which was supposed to be our family night. But, Thursday we are headed to the shelter, so that can be family night right- volunteering!?!?!

Anyways, here are some photos from our family night! Enjoy!

My sweet babies and my dear hubby!

Ruthie waiting to get started!

This is the face you get when you tell your sweet baby boy he can't have a hot dog right now! He looks sooooo upset! (Excuse the noisy photo. It was dark, my ISO was high and I had to crop it b/c the rest of the photo was horrible!

Sis and me enjoying the weather and each other!

Eating marshmallows before dinner. He was just too cute sitting there!
New post coming tomorrow with more photos and an update on life. Thanks for reading!

First family night!!!

CAUTION::: LAUGHTER AHEAD!!!!

Family night was a blast! I didn't realize the imagination of my dear husband, nor did I imagine the imagination of my daughter! They were hilarious!

If you remember, I said our first family night would consist of coloring eggs. While cooking dinner, I boiled the eggs. After I was finished, Randall informed me that we didn't have any vinegar. Ugh oh. Ruthie was upset that we weren't able to color eggs, but luckily, I had printed off this list of 101 things to do on family night- VERY useful! While eating dinner, we read the list off and chose to play charades. Playing charades was something we always did as kids. It was so much fun! I was wondering why I never played it with Ruthie!

We did our devotional first. Our lesson was over wants vs. needs. This was a good one for Ruthie because she said she didn't WANT to go to bed, and she didn't WANT to brush her teeth right after we were through. This brought the devotional to her attention pretty fast. She's so smart though b/c she thought about the children of Honduras on her own, and how they don't have the toys we have. I also asked her what was the ONE thing we needed, and she said "JESUS!" Makes my heart melt b/c she truly, truly, loves Him!

I am posting pics of all of us being goofy. Some will be easy to guess, some will not. Ignore my messy house, ugly color walls, and everything else wrong with my house. See, I would love for mine to look like this, but there is no way.....
1. pecking at little brother

2. flopping around on the floor.

3. hopping around 4. bucking around

5. notice the pager!

6. squirming around

Looking at these in pics, I realize how hard it would be to figure them out. But, I hope you had a couple of laughs looking at the photos!
1. Randall was a chicken! Ruthie thought this was was the funniest!
2. Randall was bacon! Goofy! I hadn't laughed that hard in forever!
3. Ruthie was a frog! This was her first time to do it, and she laughed more than she hopped!
4. Randall was a bucking horse! This was too funny! I didn't realize he could kick his legs up that high!
5. I was a firefighter. I put the pager on, ran and retrieved a bag, and a coat, and ran out the door!
6. Ruthie was a catapiller. She is obsessed with them recently!
So, all in all, family night was a HIT! Nobody wanted to quit playing and go to bed! Randy wasn't sure what to make of all if it.
